NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – As the summer winds down and fall approaches, the Farmers’ Almanac is looking ahead to winter with a new set of weather predictions for the 2025-2026 season. In its press release, issued Monday, the Farmers’ Almanac summed up the winter season for much of the U.S. in three words: “Chill, Snow, Repeat.”

What should New Mexico expect?

According to the Farmers’ Almanac, the Southern Plains, which includes New Mexico, Texas, western Kansas, Oklahoma, and portions of Nebraska, may see a wetter-than-average winter with periodic cold snaps. The region might also experience freezing precipitation with limited snow.
