The downtown Cornwall lunch crowd had a new option to sate their appetites today.

The Cornwall Police Service Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) students were serving up hot dogs, with proceeds going towards the Boys and Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG chapter. A vendor tent was set up outside the Justice Building on Pitt Street on Tuesday afternoon, with the smell of hot dogs wafting through Cornwall’s downtown area.

“This is their initiative,” said CPS Cst. Pat Huygen. “It’s their project… the YIPI program is a good program for the participants. They gain a lot of experience from projects like these. They learn about what goes on behind the scenes to make an event like this a success.”
