AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two finalists are vying for the Richmond County superintendent job, and the school board will announce the selection during a meeting Tuesday afternoon.

The candidates are longtime local educator Dr. Malinda Cobb and outsider Dr. Keith Simmons.

The meeting has begun and district officials say they will make an announcement during the meeting.

Cobb was the only candidate at Tuesday’s meeting, although that’s not unusual, since she’s the interim superintendent.

It’s a decision that impacts all the families and your kids if you’re in the Richmond County School System.

But it will be a closed-door decision, so all we have to go from is the candidates’ personnel files.
