As of 5:16 p.m. Tuesday, 2,990 homes and businesses in Coweta County were without electricity, according to outage data from Find Energy.
That’s about 4.3 percent of the 69,589 customers tracked in the county, the highest number and percentage of outages in Georgia at the time.
Coweta-Fayette EMC reported the vast majority of the outages, with 2,986 of its 42,671 customers without service — about 7 percent. Georgia Power reported four outages. Diverse Power, GreyStone Power and Newnan Utilities reported fewer than 20 outages each.
The peak outage count in the past 72 hours reached 9,761 customers, or 14 percent, earlier in the day. The cause of the outages and estimated restoration times were not immediately available.
