Nearly everywhere you look in the Brockville region, and across most of the province, you see dead brown grass instead of luscious green lawns.
A lengthy drought has hit the area, causing a month-long period of dry weather that has seen very little rain.

According to Environment Canada, July only reported a total of 20 mm of precipitation for the entire month in Brockville, which is well below the monthly average of 99.2 mm.
“This is only about 20 per cent of the normal amount for the month of July,” said Steven Flisfeder, a meteorologist for Environment Canada. “As of Tuesday, August hasn’t recorded any precipitation in Brockville at all.”
While Environment Canada’s data shows that this isn’t quite a historic drought, it still is a noteworthy period of dry weather.
