OWINGS MILLS, Md. —

The BMW Championship has returned to Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills.

The players hit the course on Tuesday for their first practice rounds. Among the competitors is Patrick Cantlay, returning to the scene of his 2021 BMW Championship win.

Cantlay is reserved, thoughtful and introspective. In 2021, though, he elicited the loudest roars ever heard at the golf club after winning the championship.

Cantlay outdueled Bryson DeChambeau in a six-hole playoff, earning the nickname "Patty Ice."

The earned nickname was another ironic moment, with the quiet and subdued golfer having possibly the best putting day of his life — with millions of dollars on the line.
