FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened on Tuesday near the Lake Wateree area.

The sheriff’s office says when deputies arrived to the scene on Durham Place Road near the Lake Wateree area, they found one person dead.

Investigators believe the person(s) left the area, and there is no immediate danger to people.

This case remains an active investigation.

The sheriff’s department is working along with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to collect evidence, and interview witnesses.
