MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Folks in Middletown will have to wait at least another year before their library's renovation and restoration project gets rolling.

The project to improve the Russell Library has been years in the making. There's even an entire strategic plan available online for residents to learn more.

This year, town officials are not putting the library project on this year's ballot, as other critically-needed repairs around town are being considered, like water and sewer improvements.

But library director Ramona Burkey said she's not sure how much longer the project can wait. The library building was converted from an 1834 church and then additions were added to expand the library's space. One of those additions was only supposed to be temporary until the year 2000, but the
