WAUSAU, Wis. (WFRV) - A federal grand jury indicted a 63-year-old Wisconsin man on August 6 on 10 counts relating to alleged wire fraud and money laundering.

Investment advisor Stanley Pophal of Wausau faces seven charges for wire fraud and three for money laundering.

Pophal is accused in the indictment of accepting money from investors between May 2019 and June 2025, promising to invest in some of his business interests, such as buying and converting commercial properties into residential apartments.

The indictment alleges that Pophal used the majority of the funds for his desires, purchasing hundreds of snowmobiles.

If convicted, each count of wire fraud comes with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, and 10 years for each money laundering charge.
