A planned paved trail in the Medway Valley could be on the chopping block after pushback from area residents over losing portions of their backyard and a lack of communication about the plan.
Members of council’s planning committee unanimously voted on Tuesday to halt any work on a proposed trail in the environmentally sensitive region southeast of the Wonderland and Fanshawe Park roads intersection, behind properties on Attawandaron Road, which would connect to existing trails to the north and south.
Councillors outlined they were concerned about elevation changes in the area requiring slope stabilization, archeological concerns before constructing a trail, along with the cost of both.
