A London police officer faces professional misconduct charges for allegedly possessing a gun without a licence and assaulting his partner on multiple occasions, records show.

The officer is charged with five counts of professional misconduct under the Police Services Act (PSA), the now-replaced legislation governing policing in Ontario, for alleged offences between August 2019 and December 2022, according to a notice of hearing.

The Free Press isn’t naming the officer, a 15-year service member, because it could identify the complainant in the domestic violence case.

Four counts stem from alleged assaults on the officer’s partner, while a fifth is for possessing a rifle without a valid licence, the documents say.
