CAMDEN, S.C. — Days of cloudy skies and consistent rain have led to widespread street flooding across South Carolina, and Camden is no exception.
On Broad Street, water has pooled across the roadway, impacting local businesses. But residents and workers say the issue goes beyond the recent weather. Flooding, they say, has been a persistent problem.
Queen Halley, an administrative assistant with Family and Love Home Health Care, works in an office located right on Broad Street. She said she’s dealt with flooding since she started at the location two years ago. On Monday, water reached the front door of the office.
“The water was above the sidewalks, and if you had to walk out here with no boots or anything, it would have been above your ankles,” Halley said.
