MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Police Department has arrested and charged a woman after 13 abused dogs were found inside her home.

On August 11, officers responded to an animal cruelty call at a home on Kipling Avenue.

When officers arrived at the home, they were met by Memphis Animal Services staff who informed them that 13 dogs had been found on the property.

According to the affidavit, they found 13 dogs, a mix of puppies and adult dogs; all of the dogs were malnourished, covered in feces and urine, and had no access to food or water. One of the puppies found was dead.

Upon further investigation, it was learned that the suspect, later identified as Shamika Farmer, lived at the home with her young children.
