MADISON (WKOW) -- The encampment at Dairy Drive, which was a temporary solution to homelessness in Madison, is being shut down. Built with COVID-19 relief funds, it lasted four years but is now set for demolition following a unanimous vote by the Board of Public Works, which cited a lack of funding.

Linette Rhodes, who manages Madison's Community Development Division, said her team is focusing on a new men's shelter, the Bartillon Shelter. They are working to connect Dairy Drive residents to other housing options, though Rhodes acknowledged some might decline.
