COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) - Colerain Township leaders gathered Tuesday afternoon to unveil a sidewalk along Joseph Road that was nearly a decade in the making.

Officials told FOX19 NOW that plans had been in development since 2018 to construct a sidewalk from Colerain Avenue to Cheviot Road due to resident complaints.

“Nobody really understands the complexity of putting in a sidewalk where one doesn’t exist,” said Assistant Administrator Tiphanie Mays.

She said they had to coordinate with local property owners to allow the path to be constructed.

Mays explained that safety was their top priority while creating the sidewalk.

“A really big component of this project was connecting the school with the park at the end of the project,” she said.
