‘She is fearful to go back’; Tell City woman detained by ICE at immigration appointment, co

TELL CITY, Ind. (WFIE) - A Tell City woman was detained by ICE at her recent immigration appointment in Indianapolis. Now, her co-workers are fighting to bring her back home.

Maria Rodriguez is a 49-year-old immigrant from Venezuela who is currently seeking asylum.

She has been living in Tell City for the last few years, and is a CNA at the Oakwood Health Campus.

Many of her co-workers at the health care facility say Rodriguez goes above and beyond every day for the residents.

“She has made such an impact on all of us. Not only as a coworker, but on a personal level,” said Kristi Gogel, an LPN at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City.

Rodriguez has built connections with both her co-workers and the residents living in the facility.

“We are fami
