HILLSBORO, Oregon — Therapists in our area say they're worried about losing clients due to federal Medicaid cuts.

CareOregon — a Medicaid insurer — notified people on the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) they will no longer be able to see non-contracted providers after Oct. 1.

Therapists at Core Values Counseling in Hillsboro say 32 of their clients may now have to look elsewhere for therapy.

They say it is especially frustrating because they were recently approved to take out-of-network clients — to help fill the post-COVID-19, increased need for mental health providers.

But now, dozens of their clients will have to change providers.
