A family that just lost a beloved father in a string of crashes along Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard last week is now facing a new hurdle after their home caught fire Sunday morning.

Angeline McKinney-Craig and her four children that she shared with her ex-husband DaRon Craig are now staying in a hotel after a fire from a grill spread to the front porch of their home over the weekend.

“It was discovered later that this fire was as a result of a kettle-style barbecue that had been in use that had been set down on a bark chip, bark dust pile. Heated up that bark dust pile, it wandered until it hit the structure with enough heat, and all of a sudden, we now have a significant ... fire," said Rick Graves, Portland Fire and Rescue's public information officer.
