LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Archie Wilson bowed his head and had tears in his eyes when asked about his family on Tuesday. The 18-year-old from Australia is more than 8,000 miles from his parents and brothers as he pursues a football career at Nebraska.

“I love them a lot and I miss them,” Wilson said.

The Aussie punter followed Mike Ekeler to Nebraska after connecting with the Special Teams Coordinator through ProKick Australia. Wilson, in fact, has never played in a football game and will debut when the Huskers meet Cincinnati on August 28th at Arrowhead Stadium. Ekeler discovered the 6-foot-2, 215 pound Aussie through the online service.

“That guy is special,” Ekeler said. “That guy knows everyone one of his teammates. And his teammates love him.”
