A man wanted for violating a federal probation warrant was shot and killed by law enforcement officers in Chandler after officers said he produced a gun in a pursuit, authorities said.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Arizona WANTED Task Force located the man at a residence on the afternoon of April 12 before they followed him and attempted to stop him in his car, according to a statement by the U.S. Marshals Service. He then fled, and officers used less-than-lethal tools in an attempt to stop him near Price and Germann roads, the statement said.

During the incident, authorities say the man took out a gun and prompting officers to respond with gunfire, which hit and killed the man, the statement said.
