A local indoor farming startup is growing more than just plants, according to Inc. Magazine.
Scott’s Addition-based Babylon Micro-Farms was ranked at 1,009 on the annual Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., topping the list for Richmond-area companies.
It’s the first time on the list for Babylon Micro-Farms, which sells automated, indoor vertical farms. The company had revenue growth of 423% over the previous three years, making Babylon the highest-ranked of 32 local companies that nabbed a spot on this year’s list.
Babylon was founded in Charlottesville in 2017 by Alexander Olesen and Graham Smith and relocated to its current Richmond headquarters at 3409 Carlton St. in 2021.
