The Dothan City Commission on Tuesday certified the results of the Aug. 5 municipal election, officially naming winners in several key races and setting up three runoffs for next month on Sept. 16.
Election winners
Mark Saliba secured a decisive win for mayor, defeating challenger Jimmy McCray with 6,158 votes to 1,409.
In the city commission races, Vivian K. Daniels edged out Kevin Dorsey in District 1 by just four votes, 539 to 535. Dave Stock won District 4 over Josh Chapman, 874 to 728.
For the Dothan Board of Education, Julie Mullins Turner narrowly defeated James Wesley “Wes” Grant for chair, 3,707 to 3,695. Incumbent Brenda C. Guilford won District 1, incumbent Franklin Jones claimed District 2, and Taiisha Walton carried District 3.
