Three people with Global Tax Services have pleaded guilty to fraud investigations related to Hurricane Ida recovery.
On July 15, Starr Carbo, a former co-owner of Global Tax Service, pleaded guilty to injuring public records, related to her 2022 arrest, for preparing and submitting fraudulent sales tax refund claims for property destroyed during the hurricane. Advertisement
Carbo, and two others — Johnnie Mar Ricard and Erica Williams — charged clients of the company as much as $110 to prepare and submit the sales tax refund form using false information that inflated the value of the losses.
Carbo was sentenced to three years of probation and is ordered to complete a theft deterrence class, reimburse LDR $4,000 for the cost of the investigation, and refrain from pre
