Good news for those hoping for a break from this summer heat, but it looks like we'll be sticking with it for a while longer here in Southern Illinois and the surrounding Ohio Valley. We've been talking about this pattern, and indeed, typical summer-time heat and humidity are going to stick around through much of this week. We're expecting those daily high temperatures to hover in the upper 80s and lower 90s, but be aware that when we factor in the humidity, those afternoon heat indices could easily climb into the 90s, making it feel quite oppressive at times.

We aren't completely dry, however. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to be in the mix, particularly through tonight and into Thursday. These will be most noted over areas like southeast Missouri and the Purchase Area
