Minnesota landowners and canoeists are moving to block the Fort Frances Paper & Pulp Co. from altering the levels of virtually all boundary waters touching the state. It is claimed that every shoreline will be ruined; settlers' lands will be flooded; and the beauty of the country will be destroyed for the next 25 years.

A large number of Nopeming sanitorium patients have gone on a "milk strike," refusing to drink contaminated milk coming from the county workfarm pasteurization plant. Milk from the work farm has been found to contain coliform bacilli, resulting from the use of a chlorine sterilizing solution that had lost its strength.
