The Yukon government is now working to install a public water source in Mount Lorne, located south of Whitehorse, with the assistance of federal infrastructure funding. It has been a long-requested priority for the Local Advisory Council in the area.

The federal and territorial governments announced in a joint press release on Aug. 11 that $3.6 million was coming through from the federal government to support the design and construction of a water treatment plant that will be connected to the Lorne Mountain Community Centre drinking water supply. According to the announcement, the new facility will be fitted with modern filtration and disinfection systems and with buried water lines protected from freezing.
