CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Carteret County man was arrested on involuntary manslaughter charges following a death investigation of a woman earlier this year.

The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office says 61-year-old Blair Hayes was arrested yesterday for the death of 47-year-old Emma Teague, who died shortly after she was found in a camper trailer in the Wildwood Road area of Newport in February.

Deputies say an investigation found that Teague was medically fragile and was left in the camper without any heat or electricity.

Deputies say the outside temperature in February was in the low to mid-30s during the day and 20s at night.

Teague was taken to Carteret Health Care after Hayes called EMS, who noticed she was not well after checking in on her.
