SNOW HILL, N.C. (WITN) - President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin are set to meet at a military base in Alaska this Friday to discuss the war in Ukraine.

A White House official says the meeting will take place at joint base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.

Ukrainian and European officials fear that the one on one meeting could lead to an outcome that favors Russian goals.

After meeting with Trump and other European leaders, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Trump was very clear that the United States wants to achieve a ceasefire at the summit.

Trump has said that any agreement could involve land swaps and that Zelenskyy and Putin could meet or he could meet with both leaders.
