UPDATE: Soddy-Daisy resident, officials and interested parties will meet on Wednesday at 9:00am to determine the next steps for a proposed asphalt plant in the town.
The news of the plant has some residents concerned that it would be too close to homes that have been in place for decades.
PREVIOUS STORY: An outdoor learning-based public charter school is joining several local residents in their efforts to stop the development of an asphalt plant in Soddy Daisy.
The zoning area for the potential plant is less than a mile from Ivy Academy, and the school says if built, it will threaten the children's health, the community's quality of life, and one of Tennessee's newest state parks.
"Our Mission at Risk - We teach environmental stewardship," the school stated in a Facebook post .
