Today is a Storm Alert Weather day as another round of tropical moisture from the gulf controls our weather conditions and brings another risk of dangerous flash flooding. A Marginal (level 1/5) and Slight (level 2/5) risk has been placed across our viewing area today for excessive rainfall threats.
Yesterday, portions of North GA and Eastern Chattanooga saw upwards of 7 inches of rainfall in the heaviest hit areas. Multiple interstates had to be shut down due to feet of water and stranded/ submerged vehicles. Yesterday was also the second rainiest day in Chattanooga history.
Today, the rain continues, and Flash flood warnings have already been issued for some of our counties. The heaviest rainfall bands seem to be west of the hardest hit areas yesterday, but isolated storms
