The Lake Ridge School Board paid at least $322,880 to buy out the contract of former Superintendent Sharon Johnson-Shirley, according to a settlement agreement obtained through a public records request.
The settlement agreement was approved by the board on June 26, along with the July 1 retirement of Johnson-Shirley.
As part of the agreement, the board paid a lump sum of $180,670 to Johnson-Shirley, equal to one year's worth of her salary. They also agreed to contribute to her teacher's retirement account and pay an annuity to her 403(b) account.
In addition, the settlement agreement paid for unused sick days and vacation days, severance based on Johnson-Shirley's years of service and the remaining balance of her vehicle allowance. Each payment was either add
