Two people are in the hospital after a four-vehicle crash along Interstate 25 in south Colorado Springs early Wednesday, according to Colorado State Patrol.

The crash reportedly occurred between South Academy Boulevard and Mesa Ridge Parkway around 5:53 a.m. and shut down the roadway for about an hour, state patrol said. As of 7:30 a.m., one of the southbound lanes has reopened.

The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time. One of the vehicles struck a guardrail, according to state patrol. Investigators are still determining the cause of the crash.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said on their website the crash has cleared.
