Jack Schlossberg, the sole grandson of former President John F. Kennedy , was tapped by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Tuesday to lead the America 250 Commission.

The appointment was cast as a way to rival President Donald Trump’s own celebration of the Declaration of Independence’s 250th anniversary next July.

“We need someone who will make sure America’s 250th birthday celebrates our nation and our values,” Schumer wrote on X. “And I can’t think of a better person than Jack to take on that mission.”
