Butler Transit Authority’s board of directors agreed to pay nearly $15,000 for repairs to their garage at a meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

“Salt has corroded into the garage and it’s exposed rebar. This is to resurface that,” John Paul, authority executive director, said to the board.

The low bid on the project, which was placed by Holbein and totals $14,720, was accepted at Tuesday’s meeting in a 5-0 vote. Chairman Joe Hasychak was absent.

Paul said the area of the corrosion stretches across five bays and is the culmination of a few years’ worth of decay. He also said the authority has an idea of how the corrosion occurred and would need to discuss the matter with Butler Area Rural Transit before the winter.
