Crews respond to 'major gas leak' near UNL's East Campus, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Black Hills Energy crews are responding to a “major gas leak” in east Lincoln on Wednesday.

In a post on social media, the police said that Black Hills estimates the repairs could take at least four hours.

Until the gas leak is fixed, 33rd Street between Holdrege and Potter streets will be shut down.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue is assisting in blocking traffic until barricades can be put in place, according to LPD.

People are asked to avoid the area.
