LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Since last weekend’s storms, the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department has received more than 1,100 reports of tree debris.

So what will the city do with all those fallen trees and downed limbs?

There are six drop-off sites around the city , but parks operations coordinator Mike Comstock said all the debris is taken to Star City Shores eventually.

Once it’s there, the wood will be turned into mulch.

Some of the mulch will be used at parks, but Comstock said there will be plenty left over.

“It’s way more than we’d ever use,” he said. “It’ll be a massive quantity.”

The rest of the mulch will be piled in a few locations across the city, where residents can pick it up to use on their own property.
