People evacuated a Madison hotel early Wednesday morning due to a fire.
Officials on the scene say they received the call about 3:15 a.m., and crews responded to what the Madison fire chief says was a significant fire at Madison Inn and Suites.
Everyone got out quickly so no one was hurt, but people who lived at the hotel are now displaced.
It took crews a few hours to get all the hotspots out of the building. Firefighters say it was difficult to get the flames out since there was a lot of smoke in the building, causing them to have to break windows for ventilation.
According to crews on the scene, the fire originated in the lobby, spreading to the kitchen and storage areas. Fortunately, it did not spread to the hallways by the guest rooms.
