The entryways to town got a fresh new look thanks to Lakeview Junior-Senior High juniors Cale Langan and Will Janssen, with a helping hand from the Optimist Club of Columbus.

The two recently completed applying fresh coats of tan paint to the background of the “Columbus” signs that greet passersby on their way into town from the east, west and south.

The project started earlier this summer when the Vikings got involved through the Optimist Club of Columbus and quickly took on the task of revitalizing these important community landmarks.

“We started about three weeks ago with the first two signs,” Langan said. “Each sign takes around four hours to complete. First, we tape off all the letters, which takes 30 to 45 minutes, then apply the first coat of paint. After it dries, we add a secon
