LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was found guilty Monday of sexually assaulting two girls almost a decade apart.

Armando Medrano, 54, pleaded no contest to first-degree sexual assault and third-degree sexual assault of a child.

Under a plea deal, the first charge was reduced from first-degree sexual assault of a child. One count of witness tampering was also dropped.

The conviction marks the culmination of a yearslong investigation into Medrano.

In 2017, a 14-year-old girl reported that Medrano assaulted her multiple times. She described the assaults “in detail,” according to an arrest affidavit.

Medrano was scheduled to come to Lincoln Police Department headquarters for an interview on Oct. 2, 2017, but he never showed up.

Court documents say he went to Guatemala.
