LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The City of Lincoln’s budget will increase by $4.3 million.
On Monday, the Lincoln City Council unanimously approved Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird’s proposed changes to the two-year budget.
The biggest increase is a $1.5 million boost to the pool maintenance and repair fund.
The city said its aging pools are needing fixed more often.
StarTran will get an extra $1 million, which Gaylor Baird said was necessary because of reduced state funding and higher staffing costs.
An additional $936,000 will be invested in pensions for police officers and firefighters.
The council also approved $764,940 in debt service for the stormwater bond approved by voters last year.
The final budget adjustment is $150,000 for pay raises for 911 dispatchers.
