SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WFSB) - A teenager was placed in custody in connection to an incident involving a stolen vehicle on Wednesday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m. officers were called to the area of Lionel Benoit Road after a report of suspicious activity, the police department said.

When crews arrived, they found four people who were surrounding a Hyundai trying to remove a tire.

The group of people fled into a wooded area as soon as they saw police.

Officials then arrested a 13-year-old boy.

He was caught with a screwdriver, lug nuts and a USB cord which is commonly used to steal Hyundai’s and Kia’s.

No further details were released.
