SOUTH WINDSOR, CT. (WFSB) - What was supposed to be a fun summer day cooling off at a splash pad ended in tears.

38 preschool students from the Enfield Child Development Center along with parents and teachers came to the Nevers Park splash pad in South Windsor as an end of the summer field trip, something that parents say happens every year.

But about an hour after arriving, the town manager came down and asked the group to leave.

“A bunch of four-year-olds were having a negative impact on the facilities and residence of South Windsor. First of all, there are children in a playground. They’re not having a negative impact. That’s what it’s there for,” said Melissa Bergeron, a parent.

She and other parents reached out to the town’s park and recreation department and the town manager.
