BRONSON TWP., MI — Discount Foods of Bronson opened the doors on Wednesday, Aug. 13, just west of Bawden Road on U.S. 12, months after owner Sam Wickey and his family had hoped.

"We used to shop at a store similar to this. I guess I thought Bronson needed it," Wickey said.

His parents retired and needed something to do, so the family started the popular discount food store on N. Matteson St. in 2013.

The family has no experience in the food business. Wickey said, "There was a lot of trial and error."
