As Detroit police investigate a shooting this week at a senior apartment complex, a council member plans to work with city officials and the police department to address gun violence involving older residents.

Councilwoman At-large Mary Waters will be working with the Detroit Health and Police Departments to address recent incidents at senior living facilities, her office said Wednesday.

Waters said she is setting up work sessions with appropriate officials and would publicly announce the first conflict resolution meetings within a week.
