INDIANAPOLIS -- A 34-year-old man has been arrested after a reported stabbing at the Julia M. Carson Transit Center in downtown Indianapolis.

According to officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to the center, located at 201 E. Washington St., at around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

When officers arrived, they found an adult man "with injuries consistent with trauma" and he was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The public police report stated that a black pocket knife was collected as evidence at the scene.

A suspect, identified in the public police report as a 34-year-old man, was "quickly detained" and arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated battery with a substantial risk of death, a Level 3 felony.
