The 18th annual Teddy Bear Toss game is taking place this year in Edmonton.
Every year, the Oil Kings support 880 CHED’s Santa’s Anonymous every year by having fans throw a teddy bear onto the ice after the first goal of the teddy bear toss game. The stuffed animals are then rounded up and collected.
This year’s Teddy Bear Toss is set for December 7 at 4 p.m. where the Oil Kings host the Prince Albert Raiders in a rematch of the first round of the 2025 WHL playoffs.
Last year, the Oil Kings took down the Red Deer Rebels 5-0 for the Teddy Bear Toss. Gracyn Sawchyn scored the first goal with just over 5 minutes left in the first period, which caused almost 15,500 stuffed animals onto the ice.
Over the last 17 years, over 177,000 bears have been collected.
