A portion of 121 Street was blocked off by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) on August 12 as shots were fired by officers into an apartment building.

Northbound traffic in the area was impacted by the closure.

Many police cruisers and on foot officers were in the area after 5 p.m. and going into the evening.

A video posted by @YEGwave on X and Instagram shows an officer on an extendable firefighter’s ladder to gain a vantage point into the apartment before firing shots from a rifle.

The suspect was taken away by EMS with reportedly visible gunshot wounds.
