A man is dead following a shooting at a gas station in Maple Ridge early Wednesday morning. Homicide detectives from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) have been dispatched to the scene, which is located at 24009 Dewdney Trunk Road.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight near the intersection of 246 Street and 124 Avenue. Police found an unresponsive man inside a vehicle in the 24000-block of Dewdney Trunk Road. He had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The area has been cordoned off as investigators work to gather evidence. The B.C. Coroners Service is also involved in the investigation, although they have not released specific details about the deceased.
Holly Tally, a spokesperson for the coroner, stated that they are looking into the death but did not provide further information. A staff member at the gas station declined to comment on the ongoing situation.
