NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — An elementary school in North Little Rock closed on Wednesday due to a gas leak outside of the building.

The gas leak happened outside of Indian Hills Elementary School, according to a statement posted online . The gas leak was confirmed by a local gas company.

School leaders said that students and staff are safe as both groups were sent to First United Methodist Church on JFK Blvd.

Students were dismissed at 11:30 a.m. from the back parking lot of the church and buses ran as usual.
