LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A major gas leak that closed part of a road near the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus Wednesday morning has been resolved.

Lincoln Police reported around 9:20 a.m. that 33rd Street between Holdrege and Potter streets was closed due to a gas leak. Police said this occurred after a construction crew hit a 2-inch gas line near the street.

Black Hills Energy estimated it would be closed for at least four hours for repairs.

At 10:48 a.m., UNLPD said the gas leak was resolved, but asked the community to continue avoiding the area as crews continue to work.
